All of us have purchased something that we thought was a bargain. But have you ever purchased something that you knew was the MOST EXPENSIVE of it is kind in the world? Boston Beer’s Samuel Adams brand formulates what they call “the world’s most pricey beer.” This every-other-year creation retails for $120 per 24-ounce bottle, and holds 27 percent alcohol by volume, more than five times the proof of the intermediate lager. Who would buy such a luxury? Jim Koch, President of Boston Beers, freed 12,000 bottles of the 2007 Samuel Adams Utopias in mid-November, and within the firstborn 30 days, most of it had already been sold. One of the world’s most pricey tire inflation gases is nitrogen, which is now being offered in a heap of markets as a safe, more beneficial substitute to regular compressed air in passenger car tires. The price? $25 to $40 per tire, with the assert that your gas mileage will improve by almost 5%, and your tires could last up to 30% longer. Entrepreneur Matthias Schmelz has written and is retail “the world’s most pricey book”; The Millionaire Maker: A Complete Guide to Financial Freedom. For $1,000, you get a regal, coffee-table-sized volume that weighs various pounds, has 24 karat gold leaf on the edges of the pages, and comes in an exquisite collector’s box. All these examples illustrate how cool it is to be Original in one specific category: price. As a consumer, what’s the point of buying “the most pricey in the world” of anything? There are a large total of reasons, but the number one reason is Pride of Ownership. Customers SAY they want to recompense the lowest price, but what they in truth want is the biggest Value for their money. And value doesn’t always stop at the price. The reason you might buy a $120 Samuel Adams is to be capable to say you’ve tasted the most pricey beer in the world. You’ll sip it. You might portion it with others you’re with. You’ll savor the experience. You’ll tell your grandkids. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The product may not be worth $120, but the finish experience may well be worth it. Will you read a $1,000 book differently than an intermediate priced book from Barnes & Noble? Yes, you will. You’ll squeeze as much value as you may from an investment of that size, and it could very well end up the most worthful investment you ever make. Schmelz surely doesn’t need to be a best-seller. At $1,000 a pop, he only needs to trade a thousand copies to gross a million dollars himself. Your product or service may not be the most highpriced in the world, but your price does say something in regards to you. It is a statement of your Originality – what makes you dissimilar than anybody else. It speaks volumes in regards to the pride you have in your own quality. It directly affects the expected values of quality in the mind of the consumer. And it affects the way in which your product or service will be discussed amidst others. Authentic businesses are using our Law of Originality – one of the Four Laws of Authenticity from our book, Reality Sells – to determine what their price is relative to the VALUE they deliver. And that value has a heap of dissimilar measurements. What does your price say when it comes to you? |
